Ballena Aventura is a 100% national company located in Ballena Bay of Uvita of Osa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica; with more than 15 years of experience in tourism. This company offers different tours in the South Pacific of Costa Rica, such as the Ballena National Marine Park, Cano Island Biological Reserve, Corcovado National Park and the Terraba-Sierpe National Wetland, are the most visited and offered by the company.

Its founder Maximino Alejandro Vasquez, known as “Chumi”, had the idea to start working on boat tours as a new way of showing the natural beauties that the area has to offer, since in this community there has been a very accelerated transition from farming community to fishing community and for 20 years to today, a community dedicated almost 100% to the tourist activity. The company has grown in recent years being one of the best in the area.

Ballena Aventura seeks to be in order and to be one of the safest companies for visitors, has risk policies up to date by the Instituto Nacional de Seguros in addition to the navigability permits up to date on each of the vessels: additionally it is a recognized company by the ICT (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo) as a company committed to the environment recently obtaining the Declaratoria Turistica along with the CST (Certificado para la Sostenibilidad Turistica) as a Marine Coastal Tour Operator, which comes to reward the good work that has been doing as a company committed to excellence and responsible practices.

The staff is 100% local, educated and trained, in addition to having an extensive knowledge of the area. Our captains have more than 10 years of experience in the activity, our tour guides are bilingual (Spanish and English), certified by the ICT and with an extensive knowledge of the area and its attractions.

Ballena Aventura has 04 boats: Each with its safety equipment (life jackets, basic first aid kit) and snorkeling equipment. The characteristics of each of these boats are detailed below:

  • Named Princesa Juliana: With 33 feet (10 meters) in length, with capacity for 25 people and 3 crew, it has a Yamaha 300 HP outboard, four stroke, and fuel injection, with hydraulic steering.
  • Named Princesa Juliana II: With 33 feet (10 meters) in length, with capacity for 25 people and 3 crew, it has a Yamaha 300 HP outboard, four stroke, and fuel injection, with hydraulic steering.
