Historical Review

The story behind Ballena Aventura begins with the famous Captain Maximino, better known as "Chumi".

He started as a fisherman more than 30 years ago and put fishing nets aside to start whale watching tours or the famous "combo tour": whales, dolphins + cave visit and snorkeling (dry season).

Chumi is a pioneer in whale watching here in Bahía Ballena and has been a mentor to captains, sailors and even guides since his knowledge of marine life and the sea is immense, his experience at sea leaves a great legacy to all of us who follow after him.

He founded the company Ballena Aventura more than 15 years ago and it is still one of the best whale watching companies here in Marino Ballena National Park.
