Your tour begins at Ballena Aventura, our official basecamp. Enjoy a refreshing seasonal fruit juice and a light snack while we complete check-in formalities. Afterward, embark on a short walk exploring the history of Ballena Bay, leading you to the entrance of Ballena National Marine Park (Uvita Beach sector). Here, you’ll board your waiting boat. Departure time depends on tide conditions, with high tide offering the best experience through the channels of Boca Coronado, the mouth of the Terraba River.

As you navigate the canals, immerse yourself in the extraordinary biodiversity of this region. Home to Costa Rica’s largest mangrove forests, this area is a vital nursery and feeding ground for countless marine and terrestrial species. Keep your eyes peeled for a dazzling array of wildlife, including crocodiles, caimans, blue egrets, white ibises, ospreys, and a variety of resident and migratory birds.
